Christopher Manik - Citizen 85 (Ben Brown Remix)[Audio Logic Recordings] Out Now!

May 27, 2008

The newest Ben Brown remix has hit digital shelves!. Here's the label write-up:

Audio Logic Recordings released 3 tracks from Christopher Manik in March with 'The Heights EP'. Now we are releasing each track individually with remixes. Here are the first 2 from the EP. 'Carnival Masks' is a great early night track with spacey atmospheres which has now been reworked by Nosmo v Kris B from Chicago and Electroaspect from Slovenia. Nosmo and Kris B provide a fantastic version that combines superb funk with their own progressive influence. Electroaspect turns in a full on electro house banger that has a great summer vibe perfect for DJ sets on the beach. 'Citizen 85' is a monster track best for dropping late in your sets. It's full of emotion combining gritty synths, classic piano and big strings. Ben Brown, who is absolutely on fire at the moment has created a massive, MASSIVE remix. Ben is truly creating his own sound out of everything he touches. His remix has unbelievable low end bass, intelligent sequencing and will absolutely blow the dance floor to pieces! A guaranteed chart burner here. Both releases will be available May 22nd at all good digital shops.

Ben Brown - 'Nova' / 'Tessera' EP Release on Deep Records - March 27, 2008

Release Info

Deep Rec. Write-up:

Hailing from Chicago, Illinois youngster Ben Brown is surely one to watch. He first gained widespread attention with his "Love and Solace" production on just found label Audio Logic. Then he released "City Streets" which is to be found on many playlists today whether it be his original or the Kris B & Nosmo Remix. Coming from a more trancy start of his career Ben is now hitting us with proggy house dancefloor bombs. This is no exception for his two track EP on Deep Records: "Tessera" and "Nova". Both tracks already supported and played by Tiesto.

It's hard to describe "Tessera" other than a big fat progressive house bastard that's sure to drive the floors insane (as it has proven already) with its trancy influences. The continuing build in this track raises the energy levels higher and higher each time. Beautiful strings accompany a very strong fundament that consists of a melodic hook, thick bassline and fierce kick. This could be huge with dj's all across the genre spectrum.

"Nova" is more subtle than "Tessera", but is also destined to get things going in the clubs. The deep bass takes care of the headnodding part while in the background strings slumber to get the hands in the air when the break is there... A trancy synth joins the track to create melodic heaven. "Nova" is just the right track to come with "Tessera".

DJ Reviews:
  • Hernan Cattaneo: both tracks sound good !
  • Matt Rowan: I like both of these. Both tunes have a solid groove to them and I see them working on the dancefloor for sure.
  • Kevin Shiu: Nova is for building and Tessera is for peak time, both tracks are lovely. Thank you very much
  • Chloe Harris: Tessera - this has a great groove. its really good for the floor. heavy stuff kind of trancy. good melodies. good drums.
  • Deep C: Holy Hot Damn! Love it. 10/10
  • Andy Moor: Both tracks are great
  • Sasha Le Monnier: Only just recently come across Ben Brown, and i have to say his releases rock!! Nova...wicked uplifting almost old skool feel...lush sounds with fat beats and bassline! Tessera...this just ooozes quality, love the way it builds! This guy is a breath of fresh air!
  • Randall Jones: KILLER release from Deep Records. Both of these cuts are smooth as butter. Tessera is a dancefloor peaktime joint and the Nova is a beauty also. great stuff! 10/10

Ben Brown 'Calm Down' Release on Audio Logic Recordings - March 27, 2008

Release Info

Label write-up:

Ben Brown has been gaining momentum ever since his original debut on Audio Logic with 'Love and Solace'. The massive release regularly appeared on the airwaves with Kiss 100 London, Subterranean on XM radio, A State of Trance, Global DJ Broadcast and it was charted and played by countless numbers of major DJs including Armin Van Buuren and Tiesto. The track was also licensed to 'Dancefloor Sessions' on Armada and 'Electroladyland Vol 1' on Millennium Recordings. Ben Brown returns to Audio Logic with his next release, 'Calm Down'.

This massive track is sure to be bigger than 'Love and Solace' with Ben's Balearic vibe and grooving percussive elements that lead to a big, progressive hook that everyone will be humming hours after they hear it. Even more massive are the remixes included with this package. Christopher Norman (aka Retrobyte) created an unpredictable sequence that's very sophisticated, techy and just plain gorgeous. Jerome Isma-Ae turned in a fantastic and deep progressive groover using the familiar warm melody stabs from the Original Mix. Finally, Walsh & Coutre have made a monstrous remix going all out with in your face drums, bass, fx and random bits that will destroy dance floors, period.

There is everything for someone in this massive package and it's already burning up the floors receiving early support from Andy Moor, D:Fuse, Eelke Kleijn, Kosmas Epsilon, Markus Schulz and Shawn Mitiska. Be prepared to hear all of these mixes frequently in March during the Winter Music Conference and get down to 'Calm Down'.

Ben Brown 'City Streets' EP on Babylon Records - Feb 18, 2007

Release Info

Label write-up:

. Producing since the age of 17, Ben developed a diverse sound that captures elements from all realms of dance music and beyond. his first ep for babylon takes the elements of all our faves ( house, prog and tech ) and mixes them into an addictive concuction.. throw in a little retro sprinkling on the top lines here on city streets and you have the makings of a grea track. Kris B, formerly of bedrock faves 'grayarea' teams up with nosmo for a dirty little remix too!.
